I love booming thunderstorms! One of my favorite sounds from growing up is the booming thunder on the east coast.
When we moved to Colorado, we could see storms forming 60 miles away and rolling in over the mountains. I've seen some fantastic lightning storms there.
(BTW, I almost never watch The Weather Channel. I go right to USGS and look it up, and bypass the chatter.)
